GET TO KNOW THE PROS
The Small Business with a Big Mission
Alignment Professionals is owned and operated by Knoxville locals, Derrill & Pat Haney. After training for more than 15 yrs. at the oldest alignment shop in Knoxville and earning his ASE Certification, Derrill established Alignment Professionals in 1995 and later relocated to our current home at 2019 North Central Street in 2000 in order to better serve his growing customer base.
Our shop is located adjacent to the Lincoln-Park community, in close proximity to the Fourth & Gill area, just north of the historical "Happy Holler." We are proud to be part of Knoxville's downtown revitalization movement along with our neighbors, Rankin Restaurant, John H. Daniel Co., Wild Love Bakery and Three River's Market, to name a few. The historical community vibe offers many shops and restaurants to explore and compliments our retro-style business philosophy, including good ole' fashioned (child and pet friendly) hospitality along with today's must-have free WiFi amenities.
Today, Derrill is joined by a trio of highly skilled ASE Certified technicians, along with wife, Pat who serves as Admin. Manager, which means she does anything that doesn't require a wrench. It won't take long to see that Alignment Pros is "different" than the "others" when you experience the unique one-on-one, first-name basis introduction to the owners as well as the technician who will have his hands-on your vehicle. Our techs are happy to thoroughly explain their diagnosis and physically involve you in a detailed "show-and-tell" during our inspection, if you're inclined. After all, "Seeing is believing." Years of utilizing this methodology has solidified the trust and confidence between our customers and techs and as a result we are privileged to serve multi-generations of the same families.
We believe "education is priceless" for both our customers and technicians, which is reflected by our credentials including our elite ASE Blue Seal indicates at least 75% of the shops technicians are certified. In our case, we are proud that 100% of our tech team has been certified by the National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence, assuring the highest level of competence and professionalism in the industry. Also, we are proud of our acclaimed A+ Better Business Bureau accreditation, including 15 consecutive years of "Complaint-Free" recognition.
"Get to know the pros" and you will find that over 20 years in business and over 75 yrs. of combined experience has proven we are a "Small Shop with a Big Mission."

MEET THE TECHS
ASE Certified Technician
Brian has done a lot of living in his 32 short years and has spent 1/3 of his life in the automotive field. In that time he has learned a lifetime of lessons in perseverance -- the hard way. After all, how many people can say they have survived a tornado, a house fire and Hurricane Katrina? He is originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma, but he and his family have been residents of East Tennessee for 10 yrs. He and his bride of 14 years, Kayla never have a dull moment, thanks to the J-5! That is their five kiddos ranging in age from 14-7 and whose names ironically, all begin with Sh! (Shasta, Shawn, Shayla, Shaylee & Shandan). Brian and his family love spending time in the Smoky Mountains. Brian's "real life" experience gives him a unique empathy that definitely translates to the customers he has served over the past ten yrs. as an ASE technician. What he likes most about being on the Alignment Pros team is the respect and compassion shown toward our customers and helping others in their time of need. If you need help -- Brian is your man!
ASE Certified Technican
Ronnie graduated from Karns High and is an ASE Certified Technician with 20+ years of experience. He is much like the middle child in the Alignment Pros family with his analytical, methodical, self-motivated problem-solving approach. He doesn't have a lot to say, unless it is very pertinent. Ronnie takes pride in solving customers' problems and his stick-to-it attitude can be likened to a rodeo bull rider. He hangs on for the ride until the job is done. He enjoys the unique variety of hot rods and classic cars we service. On the weekends, Ronnie trades his wrench for a camera and he and his fiance, Tammy and son, Aiden set out to explore the endless variety of local historic attractions, museums, festivals and concerts that Knoxville has to offer. You can be assured Ronnie is an avid learner, on and off the job, which contributes greatly to his expertise.

Got noises you just can't trace down? Just doesn't drive like it used to? You may benefit by having your suspension inspected. Let our experienced technicians test drive and conduct a thorough suspension examination (tie rods, ball joints, bearings, bushings, cv axles, shock/struts) of your vehicle to accurately diagnose any defective parts that require replacement before an alignment can be properly completed. NEED AN APPOINTMENT? We realize your time is valuable, which is why we work primarily by appointment (M-F, 8-4), ensuring a minimal wait time. Most alignments require approximately an hour or less and we assure you we will do everything possible to make your wait comfortable and brief. Suspension and brake repairs require more time, If you prefer, you can drop off your vehicle before or after hours using our secure key drop and we will promptly call or text when your service is completed.
HAVE A QUESTION? Feel free to check out our Frequently Asked Questions page or give us a call. We will be glad to answer any alignment, brake, suspension or frame questions you have. If we can't help you, we will try our best to refer you to a reputable, competent shop who can service your needs. It pays to have a network of automotive service providers you can trust.
NEED AN ESTIMATE? We highly discourage phone estimates due to the potential for misleading or inaccurate quotes/diagnosis. To avoid the guess work that comes along with a "ballpark" estimate, we will provide a "stress-free" inspection for $75 per hour, including a test-drive and thorough inspection of either the brake and/or suspension systems of your vehicle. This inspection averages 30 minutes ($37.50)* and addresses specific issues, including problem solving noises and symptoms that are of concern to the customer and will result in a detailed written diagnosis and exact estimate to facilitate immediate authorization of work or budgeting for the future repair. We will gladly refund the inspection/diagnostic fee if the service is completed (per estimate) within 30 days. Also, many DIYers opt to utilize our economic inspection fee for the purpose of getting a professional diagnosis which allows them to accurately identify the problem so they may complete the parts repair themselves. In which case, the inspection fee becomes the diagnostic fee and is not credited toward an alignment only.
This is the best place I have ever been for brake and alignment issues. At another business I was told that I needed new front and rear brakes. I came to Alignment Professionals for a second opinion. After a few minutes I was advised that I did NOT need new brakes as my brakes were only 40% worn. I couldn't believe it! These very fair, kind, honest and trustworthy professionals won my respect, admiration and recommendation immediately. I was even invited into the shop to visually inspect my brakes. The mechanics took time to educate me and make the appropriate recommendations for future service that may be needed. I am so blessed to know the folks at Alignment Professionals and highly recommend them.
Great customer service and friendly staff. Explained what all they had to fix
and checked out some extra stuff for me.
Top notch shop - went above and beyond expectations.
I appreciate you not charging when your mechanic found I didn't need new brake pads but he did spend an hour checking my car out and I think I owe you. I will be back when I need your service and you can be sure I'll recommend you to my friends as an honest place to go.
I drive out of my way from Halls and could easily go locally, but the service and loyalty not to mention the friendliness is outstanding.
We take all of our trucks to get aligned here. Great service, great price, great people!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ???
Q: I have my own parts, how much would you charge to install them?
A: We DO NOT install customer parts because we cannot provide a warranty with our work, nor can we produce enough profit to remain in business on labor/service alone. While customers may say, "they don't need a warranty," years of experience has proven that customers are much happier when we can stand behind the product we sell and the service we provide. In the end, when a defect or problem occurs our customers are much more satisfied if we can correct the problem at no additional charge, rather than incurring additional expense and aggravation. Experience tells us this is what is best for everyone and satisfied customers have confirmed it!
We take your needs personally and strive to work within your budget by prioritizing the urgency of the necessary repairs and performing work in steps. In addition, we also offer 6 mos. interest free financing via Synchrony® (must qualify) to assist customers in obtaining the repairs, while building a beneficial credit history.
*RARE exceptions will be made only in cases of rare parts that are not readily available aftermarket & labor rates may vary accordingly.
Q: How often should you have your vehicle's alignment checked?
A: A vehicle's alignment should be checked approximately twice a year or an average of every 15,000 - 20,000 miles providing the vehicle is not showing symptoms of alignment problems such as tire wear, pulling or an off-centered steering wheel.
Q: What are some symptoms of an alignment problem?
A: Tire wear is the most obvious symptom of an alignment problem, although inside tire wear can be very difficult to detect, which is why it is important to have your tires rotated every 3,000 - 5,000 miles so any problems may be detected in time. Some vehicle will also begin to pull left or right when the alignment needs to be adjusted. Finally, if you have hit a pot hole, speed bump or other road hazard and you notice a change in the steering wheel being centered or the driving conditions of the vehicle, you should have your alignment checked immediately.
Q: What does having my car aligned include?
A: A thorough alignment will include inspection of all applicable suspension parts including all tie rod ends, balljoints, CV axles, idler arm, control arms, bushings, shocks, struts, rack n' pinion/steering gear box, motor mounts, etc. This process will indicate any worn parts that may contribute to tire wear, cause safety hazards, prevent pulling and ensure the vehicle can be properly aligned in order to facilitate safe handling and optimum performance.
Q: I have a vibration at high speeds, does this mean I need an alignment?
A: In general a vibration that presents itself in the acceleration mode indicates a tire balance problem. In some cases a vibration could also be caused by worn tires, which would then indicate an alignment issue. It is a good idea to have tires balanced and rotated every 3,000 - 5,000 miles to ensure even tire wear. In addition the alignment should be checked at least once per year or approximately every 15,000-20,000 miles to ensure proper tire wear and safe handling.
Q: How long does it take to have an alignment done?
A: We work primarily by appointment M-F 8-4 pm. or you can also drop a vehicle off and we can work it in between the scheduled appointments and call you when it is ready. If you have an appointment scheduled, an alignment takes less than one hour to complete, which is the quickest way to get service.
Q: Is there any warranty on your work?
A: Yes, alignments are warrantied for 6 months. Brake and suspension service includes 1 yr. warranty. Parts carry manufacturer's warranty (one year to limited lifetime warranty). Specific information furnished upon request and documented on sales receipt.
Q: Do you charge to check a vehicle if it doesn't need to be aligned?
A: Yes, we charge an inspection fee if a vehicle does not need an alignment or if it needs more extensive work than just an alignment (i.e., parts replacement). In the case of additional work, we will provide a complete diagnosis and written estimate and will credit the $35 inspection fee costs toward the estimate amount in the event that you have us perform the estimated service within 30 days.
The reason we charge an inspection fee is so that we can continue to employ top-notch techs with the highest industry qualifications and offer an acceptable hourly wage so they can feed their families and provide the best customer service possible. The inspection fee is applicable when your vehicle's alignment checks good. WE WILL NOT charge you for an alignment when your vehicle does not need it nor will we fabricate repairs, which ultimately saves you money and provides peace of mind knowing you are receiving an honest and accurate diagnosis.
Q: Will you provide my old parts to ensure proof that the work estimated is being completed?
A: Yes, we will be glad to make your old parts available to you upon completion of the job, per your request. We will also be glad to show you the worn or damaged parts BEFORE we replace them during our diagnosis and estimate process, if you would like to see them for yourself.
